A Traditional

Country Cottage

This charming traditional rural property is a Georgian country farmhouse that required architecturally accurate replacement conservation windows and doors plus the addition of an orangery. Featuring superbly hand-crafted fenestration, windows created and crafted greatly improve the thermal efficiency of the farmhouse whilst maintaining the traditional proportions.

We replaced the existing windows and doors with high performance hardwood and slim sightline double glazed equivalents then created a discreet yet classically inspired Orangery extension.

Replacement windows and doors were constructed in Engineered Red Grandis timber and glazed with specialist slim sightline double glazed units to provide modern efficiency whilst maintaining an original appearance in keeping with the period property. A mixture of Yorkshire sliding sash and traditional box sliding sash windows featured a bespoke lamb’s tongue glazing bar to match the slender proportions of the existing bars.

The orangery was a delightful addition that created valauble and very usable extra space. It was designed with flush casement windows and simple understated classically-derived detailing to the pilasters. An elegantly arched glazing bar configuration above the French doors subtly broke up the 6-paned fanlights above the windows.
